Hamid Kohan
Hamid Kohan is a seasoned entrepreneur with a rich background in both the computer software and legal industries. His journey began early, earning his engineering degree from Chico State University at just 17 years old. Immediately recruited to Silicon Valley, he dove into the tech world, working with several high-profile companies. By 21, Hamid had completed his MBA in business marketing, further fueling his career in technology and business management.
In his early career, Hamid played a significant role in pioneering technology. At Grid Systems, he worked as Senior Manager of Product Development, collaborating with a team that developed the world’s first-ever laptop computer. From there, he joined SUN Microsystems in 1984 as Senior Engineering Manager. During his time at SUN, Hamid was part of a core team working with future tech leaders like Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) and Carol Bartz (Yahoo CEO), contributing to the company's growth from 200 employees to over 13,000 in just eight years. Following this success, he held senior roles at Hitachi Computers and Tandem Computer (now HP Computers), where he directed business and technology development.
In 1999, Hamid shifted his focus to Los Angeles, taking the helm as Division President of Emblazed Technology (Webradio), a publicly traded company. Under his leadership, the company saw a 300% growth in just 12 months and reached a valuation of $1 billion. His ability to drive growth and expand businesses led him to co-found CAPLUCK Inc. in 2004, where he launched Cap60, now a leading data management system provider serving clients across 40 states and recognized as the largest provider of services to nonprofit organizations in the U.S.
In 2016, Hamid Kohan leveraged his extensive experience in business and technology to enter the legal industry, founding Legal Soft Inc. The company specializes in providing practice management solutions tailored to the unique needs of law firms. Legal Soft started by working with a handful of local law firms, quickly achieving significant growth. Under Hamid's leadership, many of these firms saw over 100% growth, rapidly expanding their practices. Today, Legal Soft works with law firms across the U.S., offering expertise in practice areas such as personal injury, employment law, immigration, and business law.
Hamid and the team at Legal Soft have a reputation for transforming small, single-practice law firms into multi-state, multi-practice operations within a short time frame. His commitment to growth and efficiency has made Legal Soft a key player in the legal technology space. Beyond his role as a business leader, Hamid is a sought-after speaker at major legal conferences, where he shares insights on scaling law firms and optimizing business operations.
In addition to his speaking engagements, Hamid has authored two books, including the popular "How to Scale Your Stupid Law Firm," where he outlines the strategies that have helped countless firms achieve rapid and sustainable growth.
